Expansion is a game of space exploration, colonization, diplomacy, and (likely) combat. It is intended to be played by email or other asynchronous turn delivery method and is to be adjudicated by a referee. The goal of the game is to invent novel rationale for large scale space combat miniatures games to be played with diverse fleets. In other words, players happily explore their regions of space, building small empires on their own until they finally discover another race, at which time all players get together in real life and smash each others’ ships to pieces.
Expansion uses a modified version of Ian Shaw’s Steer for the Third Star on the Left tactical combat rules (as published by Wrexham and District Wargames Club), so tactical details will not be included in this document.
